FatPort Adds First Best Western Hotel Location to Wi-Fi Network
VANCOUVER, Sept. 19, 2002 - FatPort, an Ignition Point Company,
announced today that it has completed a broadband wireless network in the Best
Western Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
The Best Western Sands, a member of the world's largest hotel chain, is
now the largest wireless 'FatZone' in the FatPort network. Guests are provided
broadband access in all 120 rooms, conference rooms, and the hotel restaurant.
Intel's 802.11b Enterprise wireless hardware uses industry-standard "Wi-Fi"
(802.11b) technology, which operates at speeds up to 40 times that of other
wireless internet technologies.
"Wireless networking is one of the latest amenities to be offered by
hotels throughout the world. Laptops represent a portable office for many
mobile professionals and wireless internet access is a necessity for email
communications, meetings, and presentations - the staples of daily business"
states Sean O'Mahony, CEO and President of FatPort.
"The installation was done very efficiently at a cost far less than any
other internet provider had quoted. Getting on to the web for the first time
using the FatPort network was so easy, I did it without my sons help" states
Craig Prystay, General Manager Best Western Sands in Vancouver.
