FatPort unwires Kitsilano Beach in time for Summer
Vancouver BC, June 4, 2003. FatPort, Canada.s largest highspeed wireless Internet provider, recently completed Canada.s first beach-side Wi-Fi hotspot. The move further encourages people to get out of their stuffy offices and enjoy the natural splendor Vancouver has to offer while still remaining productive and in touch.
Based on the widely popular Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless standard, FatPort.s service is available throughout the grassy areas on Cornwall, and into the pool. Service is also available on some parts of the sand. Little to no configuration is required to use FatPort; customers typically only need to open their web browsers within the service area.
Future outdoor locations include English Bay and Coal Harbour, while service at Jericho Beach is available through Oasis Wireless, one of FatPort.s Virtual HotSpot Operator Partners.
