FatPort and Tadaa Wireless to offer bilateral roaming
Wi-Fi hotspots in Eastern and Western Canada are now available to subscribers at no extra charge.
Vancouver, BC & Montreal, PQ (March 1, 2004) - Enhancing the Canadian wireless hotspot market, FatPort and Tadaa Wireless are now offering equal access across each network to their subscribers at no extra charge. FatPort's customers will have access to 40 locations mainly in Quebec and Ontario, while Tadaa customers can tap into over 140 locations in 30 cities across Western Canada.
This agreement marks the first of its kind between independent public Wi-Fi operators in Canada. The move is advantageous for customers of both networks as it simplifies access. What used to be a time-consuming process of creating new accounts and paying additional fees for access time is now as simple as entering in the customers home account information.
"Roaming is a core focus for FatPort, and we're thrilled to welcome Tadaa subscribers to our network," states Sean O'Mahony, CEO of FatPort. "For our customers this agreement adds 40 more locations to the network of 804 locations we currently offer access to in Canada, US, UK and Europe. Our customers constantly request more roaming locations and we are pleased to include these excellent Quebec and Ontario sites."
"This agreement, a first of its kind in Canada solidifies the business model and need for carriers to work together to better server customers by ultimately providing ubiquitous Wi-Fi access across Canada", says Daniel Yeboah Jr., CEO of Tadaa Wireless.
Wireless Internet access, based on the 802.11b or Wi-Fi standard, is more popular than ever. Most manufacturers of laptops are including wireless hardware as part of their standard configuration, and new hotspots are unwiring daily. FatPort is presenting at the Wi-Fi Power event in Toronto, March 1-3, 2004.
