iPASS PARTNERS WITH FATPORT TO EXPAND GLOBAL WI-FI NETWORK IN WESTERN CANADA

FatPort's Canadian locations to be integrated with iPass global broadband wireless network

Vancouver, B.C. - July 23, 2002 - FatPort Corporation, an Ignition Point company, announced today an agreement with iPass Inc. to integrate FatPort's broadband wireless "hotspots" with the iPass Global Broadband Roaming (GBR) service. Through this agreement, iPass plans to expand its enterprise compliant Wi-Fi footprint into Western Canada.

"Roaming services will be the driving force behind expanding the utilization of public access points globally," stated Sean O'Mahony, FatPort Chief Executive Officer. "The key to increasing adoption rates and utilization of broadband wireless access is to provide the user with a seamless network that can be easily accessed in thousands of locations all over the world. This roaming agreement is another step towards FatPort's commitment to become a major wireless service provider on a global basis."

iPass will work with FatPort to ensure that their Wi-Fi hotspot locations are ready for enterprise usage, and are interoperable with Virtual Private Network (VPN) and other security policy management systems. Once the hotspot locations interoperate with these enterprise-required systems, iPass plans to integrate them into its global virtual network accessed via its award-winning iPassConnectTM mobile access client.

"Together with visionary regional providers like FatPort, iPass has been working to maximize the productivity of the mobile workforce of any enterprise from any location in the world," said Anurag Lal, vice president of business development at iPass. "By working with companies like FatPort, iPass is accelerating the creation of a global broadband Wi-Fi access offering that can be trusted by enterprise IT managers and CIOs."

FatPort's Library Square, Harbour Centre, Yaletown, and Gastown locations are among the new Wi-Fi hotspots covered under the agreement with iPass. Stephen Darling, General Manager of the Westin Grand, Vancouver states, "Since introducing FatPort service a few months ago, many of our frequent hi-tech corporate and film/entertainment guests have been seen in and around the public areas on their laptops. Wi-Fi is an important new service dimension to offer our customers at a time when options and convenience are so important. We welcome iPass users to the Westin Grand and we are pleased to provide them access to the FatPort network."

The FatPort Wi-Fi hotspot venues will join over 400 domestic and international Wi-Fi hotspot locations currently available on iPass's GBR service, including airports in Austin, Texas (AUS), Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas (DFW), Minneapolis, Minn. (MSP), San Jose, Calif. (SJC), and Seattle, Wash (SEA). In addition, the GBR service provides over 100,000 wireline broadband access points in hotels.
